FROM THE EDITORIAL BORAD

To promote publicization of academic research and improve efficiency of copyediting and transparency of the reviewing process, the editorial committee of “Cheng Kung Law Review” took domestic and international experiences as the reference to create a new OA academic journal webpage, which was officially published online on March 1, 2022.

To improve the efficiency of article contributions and review process as well as strengthening the transparency of review progress, the Journal has developed online article contributions and double anonymous review. In the future, reviewers may directly review manuscripts online, which can reduce the time spending on email, and authors are able to check the progress of manuscript processing through the website. We hope that the establishment of the website will make the full review process more transparent to authors.

In terms of the publicization of academic information, the Journal is retrospectively obtaining authorization from authors who have published papers in the past three years, providing free browsing and downloading of papers. As of February 14, 2022, the Open Access articles are under the circumstances:

Articles in the current issue can be found on the homepage of the website, and articles before Issue 41 can be found in previous journals. In addition to proceeding with retrospective inquiry of authors about their wishes, the Journal will obtain authorization from authors in the future to improve the reading rate and influence of individual articles.

Regarding Open Access, this Journal fully respects an author’s decision, including whether to authorize it, as well as the method of authorization - providing readers with rights to read articles online or to download the full text. For the open online browsing and downloading of the full text, this Journal will provide authors with two options through Network Access Protection (NAP) as well, one is a conservation mode in reading that restricts printing and editing, and the other is unrestricted on-demand printing or open access. Accordingly, this Journal hopes to take into account the open access to knowledge and the respect of an author’s copyright. Hopefully, such approach can reduce the resistance to transformation and as such enables the Journal to operate sustainably, approaching the realization of the goal of open access full text thereof.
